Why Donate to Your Local Party?
Did you know that the Johnson Country Democratic Party does not receive funding from our state or national party?
Although we often work with our state and national Democratic partners, we don’t actually receive any funding from them. We fundraise 100% of the money needed to support our local needs and local candidates. That’s why your donations are so important to us.

- Candidate support: Our local, grassroots candidates receive no funding from the state and national parties. All local candidates running for office rely almost completely on individual donors just like you. Republicans have been incredibly effective at shifting politics at a national level by building their base from the ground up, starting with smaller local elections. If we’re going to change the trajectory of this country, we need to be fighting at every level. Your donation will help us become more competitive locally.
- Party visibility through community engagement: Throughout the year, the JoCo Dems participate in numerous events such as festivals, parades, and community events. Additionally, we are a part of Franklin’s First Friday, where all are welcome to stop by party headquarters to hang out, chat, and maybe even receive a small gift related to the theme of the month! Events such as these help increase our visibility, promote our messaging and values, and reinforce our ties with the community.
- The basics: Like any other organization, we have operating expenses. These include smaller expenses such as the paper, envelopes, and stamps used for mailings as well as larger expenses such as the rent we pay on our party headquarters, which is located in downtown Franklin less than a block from the courthouse. This prominent, centralized location in the county seat is important because it makes it easy to participate in high-visibility events, such as First Friday, and ensures that all Johnson County residents can easily access headquarters.

Our county party is run solely by dedicated volunteers who receive no payments or funding for their hard work and efforts. We donate our time in the hopes of making our county, state, and country a better place for EVERYONE. This helps ensure that your dollars go evenfurther.
